The Rapti highway, which was blocked due to the landslides that came with the incessant rain, has been opened after 15 hours. On Monday morning, the highway was restored after the dozers of the concerned bodies removed the landslides around Chorkhola.

Rapti highway was blocked since 6 pm on Sunday due to landslides in two or three places around Kapurkot rural municipality-3 Chorkhola. Due to the risk of dozer operation at night, the road could not be opened immediately and passengers and vehicles were stranded on the road.

Police Inspector Resham Khatri of District Police Office Salyan informed that after the blocked road was opened, the vehicles that had been stopped since morning left for their destination. According to him, the landslide that fell in Chorkhola was removed by a dozer after four hours of hard work since morning.

"It was dangerous because the stones were falling during the night, so the dozer started working only in the morning," Inspector Khatri said.

In Chorkhola on Rapti highway, even when it rains lightly, landslides occur and stones fall from above, causing inconvenience to the passengers in commuting, he said. He urged the businessmen to exercise high vigilance as the roads were damaged and advised the residents of the district to use alternative routes during the rainy season.
