Rapti highway has been blocked since 7 pm on Sunday due to landslides caused by incessant rain.

The Rapti highway was blocked after a large landslide occurred near Kapurkot Rural Municipality-3 Chorkhola in the district. Passenger vehicles are now stopped on the road. A vehicle was damaged in the landslide. Passengers are faced with more problems as vehicles cannot drive even on alternative routes.

District Police Office Salyan Police Inspector Resam Khatri said that the landslide could not be removed as it was late at night. Rapti highway was blocked for four hours in the afternoon by the landslide. After the landslide was removed, the vehicle started operating only around 4 o'clock. After 5 o'clock, the highway was blocked due to another landslide due to rain, he said. He has advised the vehicles stranded on the road to use alternative routes.
