Property worth around 3 million rupees has been damaged due to fire in a house at Shubh Kalika-6 Howdy in Kalikot.

At 12 o'clock on Thursday night, a 9-room house in which four families live was destroyed when the fire started in the clothes and spread through the wood to the house.

Locals Ramesh Shahi, Khadak Bahadur Shahi, Birendra Shahi and Narendra Shahi's houses were damaged by fire, Calikot police chief Tek Bahadur Rawat informed. According to him, there was no human loss. DSP Rawat said that the fire spread as the house was covered with wood and stones on the roof and the families of Khadak Bahadur Shahi, his sister-in-law Lati Shahi, son Ramesh Shahi and Narendra Shahi who were in the house at that time managed to get out.

Although there is a common house where 15 members of four families live, other members went to the lake cowshed with cattle.

The victims have given the police the details of the damage of around 30 lakh rupees. According to DSP Rawat, cash worth 6 lakh 50 thousand, 9 tolas of gold (14 lakh), 15 tolas of silver (50 thousand), paddy, rice, wheat, barley, meat and beans (2 lakh), rags (3 lakh), utensils (3 lakh) and wood (1 lakh) have been burnt.

Although the police team reached the spot at night, the fire was brought under control only on Friday morning with the help of locals, Information Officer Bhir Bahadur Sunar informed.

Deep Bahadur Shahi, ward president of Shubh Kalika-6, said that 15 members of four families lost their lives after the house fire. He informed that the victim's family has been accommodated in his house.
