The Himalayan districts of Karnali Pradesh, Humla and Mugu are now connected through Beilibridge. Road connection between the two districts has been established with the commissioning of the Belybridge constructed at Lotikhola on the border of Chankheli Rural Municipality-2 and 4 of Humla.
On Tuesday, former Chief Minister of Karnali Province Jeevan Bahadur Shahi inaugurated the bridge.
Under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development of the Karnali State Government, the Directorate of Infrastructure Development, District Infrastructure Development Office signed an agreement with Kangri Construction Service on 23rd November 2081 for the construction of Beili Bridge. Built at a cost of Rs 4 crore 98 lakh, this belay bridge is 42 meters long, 10 meters high and 3.15 meters wide.
Surendra Shahi, a local, informed that with the operation of the Beli Bridge, the compulsion to cross Tuin has ended. According to him, before the wooden bridge in the river was swept away during the rains, the locals had to use tuin. In winter, when the water in the river receded, vehicles used to cross the river and a temporary wooden bridge was built for light vehicles. But when the water in the river rises during the rains, the traffic stops and the citizens depend on Tuin.
Parylal Shahi, the chairman of the municipality, said that after the construction of Belibridge, it was easy to move to Piplang, the center of Chankheli Rural Municipality. Previously, the three wards depended on Tuin to run the local municipal office. After the construction of the
bridge, the citizens of Mugu, Jumla etc. have to go through Bajura to visit Kailash Mansarovar and the citizens of Humla to visit Rara Lake. Now a road has been opened for road transport across the country via Mugu to Surkhet and Dolpa from Jumla.
