In separate incidents, two youths of Shubkalika Rural Municipality of Kalikot have died.
38-year-old Rajaram Acharya of Shubkalika-6 Howdy died while returning home after cutting grass for buffaloes, while 23-year-old Manraj Shahi of Shubkalika-5, who went to India a year ago for wage labour, died after slipping in the local Marilopata Bhir.
According to the information given by the local teacher Lakshiram Acharya, Rajaram fell down about 300 meters from the incident site after falling from Bhir. He was cremated on Saturday.
Similarly, Manraj, who is a wage laborer in India, was electrocuted while working on an electric pole. Informing about the incident, his cousin Sita Shahi said that efforts are being made to bring the body home.
According to Govinda Prasad Chowdhury, Information Officer of the District Police Office, cases of death after falling from the river are happening every week in Calikot. According to him, the number of deaths due to falls from Bhir in one year has reached 43.
