Less than three months after the completion of the lift water supply scheme, the residents of Sharda Municipality-13 have been forced to wash the springs for drinking water.

Locals of Sayanikhaal, Chalanepani, Lekhthakura, Bagmare, Salyanchaur, Attarkada, Sajkhark, Jogichaur are in trouble after the lightning which accompanied the rain on the night of June 6 damaged the meter unit, transmitter and other materials of the Lift Water Supply Scheme.

Due to the problem of water supply in the past and the need to walk to the spring for a long time, in 2079/080, the Water Supply and Energy Development Office Salyan conducted a lift water supply scheme for 495 families in the ward with a budget of around 60 million.

The locals, who were happy after the rain came to their homes, are now disappointed. 42-year-old Kamala Budha Magar of Lekhthakura told that the local women had to walk for half an hour to an hour because the material damaged by lightning has not been repaired yet.

Tulsiram Rawat, chairman of the Water Supply Yojana Consumer Committee, said that water supply has been stopped since June 7 due to lightning. He informed that one machine group has raised money and bought it and other construction companies are preparing to buy it.

Ward President Jung Bahadur Budha said that he has instructed the related office and construction company to repair the damaged machine immediately.
