The Federal Water and Sewerage Management Office in Jumla has been locked. On June 23, the political parties here locked the drinking water office in Jumla by making a ministerial decision.

The office has been locked with the help of political parties, civil society and locals. 'Until the decision is taken to keep the office in Jumla, the lock will not be opened,' said Gaurinanda Acharya, head of District Coordination Committee Jumla. After the government canceled the federal water supply office, the political parties in Jumla united and started a protest.

Congress, UML, Maoist and Rashtriya Prajatantra Party office bearers meeting in Jumla have demanded that the Federal Water Supply Office should be decided to stay in Jumla as soon as possible. "The ministerial decision to cancel the Khanepani office is against federalism," said Acharya, the head of coordination, "Until the government withdraws this decision, the movement will continue." The work of Dhauligad water supply project, the only proud project of Jumla, is also confused.

Maoist leader Bhawani Prasad Neupane said that he felt injustice was imposed on the people of Karnali. He said that this ministerial decision is against the essence and spirit of the constitution. "This is an attack on the right of the people of Karnali to get drinking water," he said.

Jyotish Kumar Mishra, head of the Federal Water Supply and Sewerage Management Office, said that they should implement the decision made by the government. He said, "This is a government decision. Not the employee's decision. We are only implementers," he said.  The

team has also submitted a memorandum to the government through the district administration office. In addition, the program of the phased movement has also been announced. The parliamentarians representing Jumla have decided to submit a memorandum to the Ministry of Water Supply, draw attention to the matter in the House of Representatives, and move forward with further agitations as needed.

This office was working in Humla, Jumla, Calikot and Mugu. The office established in the year 2075 has stalled the construction of Dhauligad drinking water project, which is the largest construction project in the Himalayan district costing one billion 26 million. From July 1, the water supply and sewage management works will start from Surkhet.

Now the water supply office has a concrete building worth 25 million. The residents of Karnali were also excited about the construction of concrete buildings. But when the office is suddenly removed, the multi-crore building is useless.
