Even in the current financial year, the Karnali state government has failed to implement the budget as per the target. The government, which aims to implement 80 percent of the budget, has spent only 64.82 percent. Out of which 58.63 percent has been spent on capital and 75.52 percent on current.
According to the State Controller of Accounts Office, the government has been able to spend only 20 billion 35 million 95 million 89 thousand 797 rupees. The Karnali government had brought a budget of 31 billion 30 million rupees for the current financial year. The government has spent 7 billion 42 million rupees only in the month of June. This amount was spent in 25 days. By the end of May, the budget had spent 12.88 billion.
In the financial year 2080/081, the Karnali government spent 60.34 percent of the amount. The government had allocated 33 billion 37 million 97 lakh 7 thousand rupees for this financial year. If we look at the total budget expenditure, this year is only slightly more than last year.
According to the Office of the State Controller of Accounts, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning has spent 79.72 percent of the budget. 96.29 percent of the capital expenditure has been spent while the current expenditure is 78.26 percent. The Ministry of Water Resources and Energy spent 79.54 percent of the budget. In which there is 80.75 percent on the capital side and 67.36 percent on the current side.
Similarly, while the Ministry of Physical and Infrastructure Development spent only 57.51 percent of the amount, the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers spent 56.67 percent of the amount. The Ministry of Interior and Law spent 70.05%, the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forestry and Environment 72.64%, the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives 69.27% and the Ministry of Social Development spent 71.71%.
