Money has been stolen from the donation box inside the famous Chandannath temple of Karnali at Khalanga in Jumla. On Thursday afternoon, an unknown person broke in and stole the money in the donation box, it was seen from the CCTV footage.

Chandannath Bhairavanath Guthi Samiti office head Ratnachandra Acharya said that CC TV showed the scene of stealing offerings from the donation box inside the temple. He said, 'It is seen that money was stolen by breaking the donation box with a rod. It is sad that the donation box was stolen by entering the temple in the middle of the day.'

There is footage of an unknown person smashing the donation box with a rod at 2:40 pm on Thursday.

A donation box has been placed in the temple to collect the money offered by the devotees. According to the District Police Office Jumla, the person who stole is being searched for. Deputy Superintendent of Police Rabinbabu Regmi said that no official information has been received about the theft of donation boxes in the temple. But according to unofficial information, the security system of the temple has been tightened. The police assigned to guard the temple have also been instructed to keep a high vigil on those who enter the temple.

District Police Office Jumla has deployed 4 police teams under the leadership of a police constable to protect the temple. But the locals say that it is ironic that the temple was stolen in the middle of the day.

The Guthi committee has stated that it is a security challenge to enter the temple by tricking the security personnel and stealing the money from the donation box. On the night of 11th November 2073, the idols of Chandannath Temple were also stolen. Three idols have not been found yet. Recently, the devotees were offering one thousand and five hundred notes in the donation box.

'Those notes were visible from the outside,' said the chief Acharya, 'They were found to have been picked and taken away. The thief is not wearing a mask. The hair has grown.'
