The Karnali government has insured journalists. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law of the province has insured journalists working in Karnali province.

 

During a program on Friday, an agreement was reached between Acting Secretary of the Ministry Uttam Gautam, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of National Insurance Company Subas Koirala and General Secretary of Nepal Journalist Federation Karnali Province Khagendra Prasad Bhattarai.

The Acting Secretary of the Ministry, Gautam, informed that journalists of Karnali have been insured in coordination with Karnali Province Committee of Nepal Journalist Federation. The Ministry had allocated 1.5 million rupees for the journalist health insurance program in the financial year 2081/082. 

The health insurance program for journalists has been launched by the ministry from the budget. Gautam said that after the agreement, the necessary process has been carried out. According to him, the insurance period will be up to 1 year. The insurance amount has been fixed at 70,000 per person. He informed that since the ministry of

will also look at the mass media sector of Karnali province, it has implemented a program for the health facilities of journalists while enhancing the rights and professional capabilities of journalists working here. The ministry expects 700 journalists to benefit from this program.

With the aim of providing assistance in the treatment of journalists, the Karnali government's health insurance program was coordinated by the Karnali State Committee of the Federation of Journalists, said Secretary General Bhattarai.

He informed that 693 journalists from Karnali are included in this program. Journalists who are not only members of the federation, but active journalists are included in the insurance program. He said, "Irrespective of whether the patient is chronically ill or any other patient, the journalists of the province will get paid after undergoing treatment at any health institution registered with the government agency." For this, the total bill will have to be submitted.

The insurance company must be informed within 60 days of the illness and 35 days after the discharge. 20 for OPD and 80 percent of the amount after admission to the health institution will be covered by the insurance . He said that it will also include health tests and medicines.

Hirakumari Bertaula, the head of the market department of the National Insurance Company, said that the tripartite agreement has proceeded. She said that the insurance program has been contracted with an insurance fee of 2,000 per person.
