Vehicles have not been able to move for an hour due to a landslide near Ranka village of Tatopani rural municipality-1 on Jumla section of Karnali highway. The landslide occurred around 2:30 in the afternoon.
More than 50 vehicles are stranded due to landslides. Netra Bahadur Shahi, the outgoing president of the Jumla branch of the Nepal Journalist Federation, informed that passengers had to walk to reach their destination from the place where the landslide occurred. According to him, there was a sudden dry landslide. He says that a 20 to 25 meter long landslide occurred. He said, 'The landslide has not started to move away. The local police administration and Tatopani rural municipality have already been informed. Passengers have requested to remove the landslide as soon as possible and open the highway.
Eyewitnesses have said that it will take two/three hours to open the road due to the huge rocks falling. There was no human loss due to the landslide. But the life of the people has been affected due to the suspension of transport services. According to the District Police Office, Jumla, a team has been mobilized from the nearby police station to the place where the landslide occurred. Deputy Superintendent of Police Ravin Babu Regmi informed that a team of police inspector Rohit Rasaili has been deployed from the district police office. According to him, a dozer has been sent to open the road. Landslides cannot be removed by hand. But the police said that efforts are being made to open the road as soon as possible by using dozers.
Passengers going from Surkhet to Nepalgunj to Jumla and from Jumla to Surkhet to Nepalgunj are in trouble. Locals said that even short-distance vehicles were stopped.
