Three years have passed since the house was swept away by the landslide, but the house of Top Bahadur Shahi of Tilagufa-4 Ranchuli has not yet been built. Hoping that the government would build a house for him, Top Bahadur stayed in the village for two years. However, after not seeing any relief, at present 4 children are left in Surkhet and are in Bengaluru, India for wage labour.

'I send expenses to my children in Surkhet by working as a wage worker . He came in contact through social media and said to Kantipur, 'The government just faked it.'  Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, the former Chief Minister of Karnali Province, reached Ranchuli and assured that the state government will build the victims' houses. 

It took 3 years for the family of 63-year-old Kali Shahi of Ranchuli to live in the house of neighbor Dhanrup Thapa after the house was washed away by a landslide. His house is still not ready to be built. Ratna Shahi of Ranchuli is in the same situation as Top Bahadur and Kali. 'In my old age, I have lived in someone else's house,' she said, 'even my two sons do not live with me .'

Most of the victims of the district whose houses were destroyed by the landslide of 079 have not been built. Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, chairman of the District Disaster Management Committee, said that the victims were in trouble when the local level did not work according to the procedures for building houses. There is a complaint that the local level has not provided the amount to be recommended and share the cost according to the standards. He said, 'We are investigating the situation in the district.'

Similarly, 26 families of 3 houses in Tilagufa-6 Zubitha village damaged by fire in the first week of October last year are still forced to live in other people's houses . The government and organizations had given some food and clothes at that time .

Manraj Shahi, a local resident, has not made any plans to build a house. He says that he started building a house by himself after not getting any help from the government.

077 49-year-old Brihaspati Shahi of Raskot-1, who lost 5 relatives including her husband Jai Bahadur Shahi in the night landslide on 12th July, has not had tears in her eyes. In the landslide, along with her husband, two sons, a daughter and Bhadaini, who was a guest, disappeared. 

She went there in January to meet her two sons who had gone to work as wage laborers in Mumbai and to get gastric treatment. She and her husband returned home after their 3 children disappeared in a landslide . Along with the pain of losing a relative in the landslide, she is overwhelmed by the problem of food and housing. 'There is no grass to eat, no shelter to live in,' she says, 'the rain has started again . I have started to worry about staying.'

his  As Geetha's elder daughter-in-law's mother-in-law is in this village, she is living temporarily on the land given by her mother-in-law by making a tin roof. It is difficult for her family to spend the winter in the cold ground and tin hut . She expressed her complaint that the Karnali Pradesh government promised to build a house but did not provide any assistance. The Karnali government has not yet received two lakh rupees for disaster insurance for the citizens who lost their lives in the landslide. 

The residents who lost their homes due to the landslide have been affected by the cold. After the house was swept away by the landslide, the landslide victim family has been living in other people's huts and tin huts. Kapure Damai of Palata-4 Kahardev said, "It has rained so much that there is a fear of landslides."

51 villages at risk 

51 settlements of all 9 local levels are at risk due to landslides in Kalikot. 500 houses of 13 settlements of Narharinath are at risk of landslides.

079 has the most  tilagufaka  Civilians lost their lives . 13 people from Ranchuli who had gone to Malami went missing after falling into a landslide. City chief Shankar Prasad Upadhyay said that Takulla, Chapre, Okharbhita, Khalla and other settlements are at risk of landslides.

11 of Raskot, 7 of Sannitriveni, 7 of Khandachakra, 3 of Shubhakalika, 5 of Mahabai, 3/3 of Pachaljharna and 3/3 of Palata are mentioned in the District Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan. Citizens of those settlements are not able to stay at home when it rains in the evening . Some of them live in tents and some of them go to sleep at relatives' houses. 

The district disaster management committee here has taken floods, landslides, droughts, stones falling from torrential rains and lightning as major disasters in Kalikot, according to Janak Sharma, assistant director. "You never know when a disaster will strike," he said. He said that due to lack of search and rescue manpower, equipment and resources, it would be difficult to carry out immediate relief and rescue work. 

In order to avoid monsoon disasters, the district administration here prepared and published a disaster preparedness and response plan, but no such plans have been made at the local level. Even though there is a disaster fund at some local levels, there is a difficulty in spending the money due to the lack of clear criteria for operation.
