The Government of Karnali State has awarded the Disaster Adventure Award to the security personnel. On the occasion of the Republic Day, the government has given awards to 5 security personnel who have been deployed in various districts of Karnali in search, rescue and rehabilitation work in the event of disaster.
Two people from Nepal Police, two people from Nepal Army and one person from Armed Police were honored with 30,000 cash, food and certificates.
Police Inspector Dharmendra Khadka of Nepal Police has been given adventure award for his significant contribution in the search, rescue and relief of buried, injured and dead bodies in Jajarkot earthquake on 17th October 2080. Similarly, Police Habaldar Prem Bahadur Chunara has been given bravery award for safely rescuing his 14-year-old daughter Sushila Budha when her house collapsed in Virendranagar Municipality-13 of Surkhet on 11th July 2081.
Nepali Army veteran Vijay Koirala has also been given the disaster adventure award. On March 25, 2080, he himself was injured while controlling a fire in Bhawani Community Forest in Thuliberi Municipality-4 of Dolpa. Koirala is currently under treatment. Similarly, Kewal Katuwal, the backbone of the Nepalese Army, has been given a bravery award because he himself was injured in the 'Operation Simpani Raksha', a risky rock management operation due to the Jajarkot earthquake on 17th October, 2080, without causing damage to external assets.
Armed Police Assistant Habaldar Dhan Bahadur Pun has also been given this award. According to the state government, he was given an award for safely rescuing a person who jumped into the river Bheri from the bridge near the City Hall in Mehalkuna, Gurvakot Municipality of Surkhet on December 3, 2081.
Similarly, the Chief Minister of Karnali, Yamlal Kandel, has said that advancing all the three dimensions of social justice, good governance and prosperity with proper balance is the main need of the present time to strengthen the democratic republic. Giving a message of greetings on the occasion of the 18th Republic Day, he said that for that purpose, putting the people at the center and the will of the people and the practice of running for the people will strengthen and mature the republic.
