Rapti highway has been blocked due to landslides after incessant rain on Tuesday night. The Rapti Highway has been blocked since night when a landslide occurred in Chorkhola, Kapurkot rural municipality-3 of Salyan.
Due to the blocking of the highway, dozens of vehicles have stopped on the road and passengers are also facing problems. In some places, nearby travelers are forced to walk around. Police Inspector Baburam Basnet, Information Officer of District Police Office Salyan, said that the Rapti highway was blocked after a landslide occurred in Chorkhola last night.
He informed that the excavator of the construction company and the related agency, which is working on road upgrading, is now working to remove the landslide. He says that it will take two more hours to remove a large landslide from above the road.
Police Inspector Basnet informed that not only during rainy season but also during winter and summer landslides occur in Chorkhola on Rapti highway and the development works are also affected due to this.
Since it takes time to remove the landslide, he has asked the small vehicles to use alternative routes and not to move around as small stones are falling from the road.
