Demonstration in front of Chief Minister and Cabinet Office and State Assembly
At the call of Local Service Employees Network Nepal, all 79 local level employees of Karnali Province have started a protest by stopping non-essential services. Since Thursday, they have been protesting by sitting in front of the office of the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers and the Provincial Assembly.
The state government has not amended the Local Service Formation and Operation Act, 2081 and has adopted a discriminatory policy against them, according to the protesting employees. They came out on the streets with placards with slogans such as ``Shocking employees, returning them from the fourth'', ``Inclusive Act, Equal Services'' etc.
The movement coordinator Omprakash Nepali said that the fourth, fifth and sixth level employees who have been appointed since 2076 are being discriminated against in terms of service facilities and promotions, said that they will protest until the demand is met. Nearly 300 employees of all 79 local levels are protesting in Birendranagar Surkhet, the capital of Karnali province, with the demand that there should be no age limit for service entry and that the provision of inter-provincial transfer should be kept in law.
