Young people go to Patan to pick Yarsa, the village is deserted

Patarasi rural municipality-4 of the district has gone to Patan to collect Yarsa a week ago. Yarsa has been his main source of income for the past decade. The income from this will cover the household expenses of the year.

In a period of two months, sometimes he earns 50,000 and sometimes more than 100,000. He said, "In the year when Yarsa is found, the income is good". It is not always the case that there are too many . When it snows, one is suffering from the fear of cold and avalanche. He says that if you meet Yarsa, you will not experience hunger, thirst, or fatigue.

Jeevan Mahatara of the same village has also reached Dolpa to pick Yarsa. Since the forest area has been opened since June 5th, he made a group of friends from the village and went up to Patan.

After about two months of risky work, if a large number of Yarsa are found, then there is no need to go to India for household expenses and education of children throughout the year . He said, ``Yarsa is the main source of good income in a short time . The sorrow of a little time will make the roar of the whole year fade away . Sometimes there is a risk of dying.'' There are only two options for those who do not have a job at home. Either India or Yarsa Tipn Patan . That is why Jeevan has been reaching Patan every year for the last five years in June for Yarsa collection.

Similarly, Aidy has been going to pick Yarsa for five years . "If you can endure a little suffering, you will get a good income," she says, "two or four members of the family will go, so there is no need to keep looking for other ways to earn." Hundreds of Jumli youths like him have reached the Patans of Mugu and Dolpa to pick Yarsa. Locals say that young people are going to Patan area in Trasaitras because the weather is bad this year. The main source of income for the locals here is Yarsa. Now it is difficult to meet young people in the settlements from Patarasi 1 to 7.

"It is not a desire to risk going to Patan, home production is not enough food for 12 months," said Srijana, "There is no option to go to Patan to collect money from household expenses to send children to school, even to buy clothes."

According to Chumma Bohora, assistant of Saraswati Mavika Talfi in Patarasi rural municipality-2, most of the upper class students have already reached Patan. Now only basic level students come to study . They have also gone from Sinja, Kankasundari, Hima, Tila, Tatopani and Chandannath municipalities of Jumla to pick Yarsa in Patan.

All the people from 12 years to 50 years go to Patan so the villages are deserted . Locals say that there is a lack of people to take people to the hospital when someone is sick in the village.
