The Road Division Office Dang has closed the Rapti Highway for a week from Wednesday for the upgrading and tarring of the Ramri road section from Chorkhola to Kapurkot Rural Municipality-3 of the district.

After the construction work was affected due to the vehicles that were operating regularly, Division Office Dang and District Administration Office Salyan published a notice and closed the Rapti Highway for a week from Wednesday.

The road section of Rapti highway from Chorkhola to Ramri was closed for 6 hours daily from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Wednesday, as the road section was affected by the continuous traffic and the road surface work was affected by continuous traffic.

When the construction company is working, the continuous driving of the vehicle will spoil the work and due to the delay in the work, Rapti highway was closed from 11 am to 4 pm at the request of the construction company, he informed. According to him, the continuous operation of vehicles has not been able to do effective work on the 4 km road section.

Due to the landslide during the rainy season and the tipper carrying limestone of the cement factory, although the construction company has been working, but progress has not been seen as expected, he informed that after the gravelling for the black sheeting, there has been some relief in Oujau.

He says that the Rapti highway has been closed several times before this in order to complete the construction work as quickly as possible. Chief District Officer of Salyan, Savitra Pun, said that the Rapti Highway was closed for 6 hours daily on the advice of everyone to complete the work as soon as possible so that the passengers have been facing various hardships for twelve months due to the inability to complete the work on time.

Chief District Officer Pun has requested that minor and essential vehicles use the alternative route Paiakhoria-Satawas-Kimchaur-Kapurkot road section and exercise restraint. He says that even though small vehicles are plying through the alternative route, passengers riding in big vehicles are affected.
