Tatopani Rural Municipality of Jumla has banned the use of chemical pesticides. A ban on the use of pesticides has been imposed because excessive use of chemical pesticides in vegetables and grain crops has an impact on human health.
The meeting of the village executive held on Monday has also decided to cut the service facilities provided to farmers who use chemical pesticides. Chief Administrative Officer Tirtha Bahadur Kathayat informed that the meeting has decided to give a reward to the person who secretly gives the information about farmers using chemical pesticides.
He said, 'Khanki mixed with toxins is affecting human health day by day. In this situation, it is seen that there will be a big problem if we don't stop it.''
'We did not know much because they used it secretly before,' said Chief Administrative Officer Kathayat, 'now we are preparing to mobilize people's representatives and employees in addition to regular monitoring.'
The meeting also decided to send a letter to the District Administration Office Jumla for the monitoring and continuous monitoring of Agrovet illegally importing pesticides. Jumla was declared an organic district in 2064.
In Tatopani Rural Municipality, there are complaints about the use of pesticides in Srinagar, Jiulo, Lamra, Dhaulapani, Gautam Bada, Tatopani, Lachu Jiulo and Ranka Jiulo.
