Apples were blooming in the garden of Nurv Lama of Damdase village, Jumla Guthichour Rural Municipality-3. He was happy to see the apple blossoms this year saying that the production will be more. Out of a total of 1,500 apple trees planted, 800 trees bore fruit last year. It was hoped that all the plants would bear fruit this year.

But the hail that fell last Wednesday destroyed all the flowers. He said, 'Apple is the promising fruit of Jumla. We are in trouble after the apples were destroyed by the hail. He sold apples worth 8 lakh rupees last year.

Due to the changing weather for a few days, there has been a problem with Jumli apples due to rain and hail. In the apple garden of Gan Bahadur Khatri of Patarasi, flowers have fallen and the ground is covered. Earlier, flowers were visible on the trees, but after being swept away by hail, the branches are bare.

He said, 'I worked very hard to grow apples. The hailstorm destroyed the hard work of months in a moment. Apple farmers of Tatopani, Chandannath, Gutichour and Patarasi in Jumla have been affected by the hailstorm. Apples were blooming and blooming. Farmers, who were worried about the drought in winter, were happy with regular rains lately.

But suddenly there was a hailstorm and the garden was damaged. "Hail not only fell flowers, but also apple leaves," added Nurb, "Jumli's identity is also apple." The main source of income is apples, and apple farmers are in trouble after this was also destroyed by hail.'

Lately, the orchards are full of apple trees. According to the data of the ward office, the hail has caused damage of more than 60 lakhs in Guthichaur. Farmers who used to irrigate by carrying water from the river due to lack of snow are now disappointed.

There are 15 gardens in Nurb's village. Those gardens bring in millions to the village every year. Plants damaged by hail and weather were insured until last year. Shikhar Bima Company used to insure apples. Insurance is not done this year. The most damage happened this year.

Ward president of Guthichaur 2 Deep Bahadur Aidy responded that the apple farmers were disappointed by the hailstorm. According to him, apple, walnut, barley and wheat crops grown in 550 households including Kolte, Guthigaon and Muduri within the ward have also been damaged.

According to the District Agricultural Development Office, Jumla, nearly 14 percent of apple blossoms have been destroyed. Last year, 61 crore 41 lakh rupees were collected by selling apples in Jumla. Ram Adhikari, the head of the office, said that the details of the damage caused by the hail were being collected.
