The Rapti highway, which was blocked by landslides, has not been opened even after 16 hours. Rapti highway was blocked from 4 pm on Thursday due to a landslide near Chorkhola in Kapurkot rural municipality.

As the Rapti highway was blocked, more than two dozen vehicles were stopped on the road and the passengers were stranded. Passengers have suffered because the blocked road has not opened for a long time.

Police Inspector Resham Bahadur Khatri of District Police Office Salyan said that the small dozer could not remove the landslide immediately and could not work at night. He said that now landslide dozers are working to remove the landslide at that place and efforts are being made for a big excavator. According to him, after the Rapti highway was blocked, all the small vehicles plying on that road section have been made to travel through the alternative route Pakhapani-Kapurkot, Luham-Kalimati-Tulsipur. Due to the narrowness of the alternative route, large vehicles have not been able to move around.

He says that it will take some time for the road to open as it is difficult for a dozer to clear the landslide due to the large rocks and mud falling from above in Chorkhola. He said that the occasional landslides around Chorkhola, where the upgrading work is being done, always cause trouble for the passengers.
