Rukum West Police is active in destroying the illegal opium cultivation in different parts of the district. The police have said that since the first week of March, they have destroyed a total of 233 plantations of poppy cultivation.
Ward No. of Athabiscot Municipality. District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Pramesh Bisht informed that 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 12 reached different locations and destroyed about 163 plantations of opium.
In addition to this, 35 plants planted in Saniveri rural municipality-6 and 35 plants planted in Bamfikot rural municipality-5 were also destroyed in this process, according to DSP Bista .
Even though opium plantations planted in different places have been destroyed in this way every year, the police have not been able to arrest those involved and bring them to justice. In this regard, DSP Bista said that when the police reached the cultivated area, no one was found.
