Social Development Minister of Karnali Dhanshyam Bhabhandari has said that the demands of women health workers (volunteers) will be addressed in the budget. He promised that it will be addressed in the budget and program so as to appreciate the service.
While discussing with the Surkhet-based volunteers belonging to the Nepal Health Volunteer Association (Neva) who came to submit demands and suggestions to Minister Bhandari on Thursday, he said that the role of volunteers in health treatment and promotion of citizens is significant.
'I have come to know about the lack of appreciation from the state agencies,' he said, 'for that, in the meeting of the thematic committee organized by the Ministry of Health of the Federal Government, there has been a discussion about revising the procedure for my proposal. It is believed that the minimum wage and additional concessions will be received after the procedure is revised and implemented.
Minister Bhandari also informed that the minimum wage has been given to the volunteers for participating in the health program in Karnali Province.
volunteers have submitted demands and suggestions such as a lump sum amount of 30,000 per year should be provided to support the lives of volunteers who have reached the age of 60, provision of timely training for capacity building, contribution-based social security funds should be listed and deposited in the fund, an amount of 20,000 should be provided for festival expenses, and 7,000 rupees should be provided for monthly reports.
