The storm that accompanied the rain on Wednesday night damaged more than a dozen houses, including two schools, in Salyan.

Baburam Basnet, Information Officer of District Police Office Salyan, said that the two-storey buildings of Navjyoti Basic School located in Panchhare of Majhkanda, Trijamavi and Bangad Kupinde Municipality 8 Marke in Sharda Municipality 8 of the district were blown away by the wind and the contents of the building were wet due to rain.

Prani Basnet informed that five houses in Kalimati Rural Municipality 2, four in 7, and one in Siddhakumakh were damaged due to the storm. According to him, when the roofs of two schools were blown off by the wind, there was a loss of three lakhs, while the details of the damage to the houses of common people have not been collected. 

Rapti highway and Chhinchu Jajarkot road sections were blocked since 12 midnight due to landslides, Prani Basnet informed that it was operational after 10 am on Thursday. 

Dinesh Paudel, head of Electricity Authority Salyan, said that electricity service was disrupted in Bangad Kupinde municipality due to the fall of poles in various places and electricity service was also affected in other municipalities due to the fall of poles in Kapurkot.
