The Triveni Rural Municipality of the district has honored more than 900 senior citizens across the municipality by distributing senior citizens' identity cards and dressing them with dosalla.
Under the senior citizen protection and promotion program, the municipality has given identity cards and honors to senior citizens.
The municipality conducted a free specialist health camp by bringing the senior citizens of all the wards to the Triveni Tirthshala Tham located in Luhambazar, Ward No. 6, and conducted eye, nose, ear and throat tests and other diseases and referred more than 100 people with complex problems for free treatment. In the
event, all the senior citizens were honored by Karnali Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel, Physical Infrastructure Minister Sher Bahadur Budha, Industry, Tourism Forestry and Environment Minister Suresh Adhikari and others.
In the recent times, since the young generation in the rural areas have all gone abroad, only the elderly are left and they are being deprived of various services because they cannot go out, so all of them were called at one place for a health check-up and distribution of senior citizen identity cards, Triveni Rural Municipality Chairman Khim Bahadur Rawat said.
By keeping everyone in one place and providing different kinds of services, senior citizens have also met relatives who have not been able to meet for a long time.
According to him, there are 932 senior citizens in 6 wards of the municipality. More than 700 participated in the program. All those who could not participate in the program will be distributed at their homes and will be given free health check-ups.
He said that with the senior citizen ID card, they will get half of the fee charged while traveling in the car and they will get all kinds of other facilities.
Chief Administrative Officer of Triveni Rural Municipality, Khum Bahadur KC, said that 7 lakhs have been allocated under the Senior Citizen Protection and Promotion Program in this financial year.
