Helipads constructed with night vision in 10 local levels of the district with the financial support of the local level and the technical support of the Nepali Army for the emergency rescue of the seriously ill, pregnant, seriously injured in accidents from remote settlements have become unusable.
After the government started air ambulances in remote settlements, the Nepali Army built a helipad with the financial support of the local level to facilitate the treatment of seriously ill patients, but it became useless when all the seriously ill patients, including those who had been in an accident, began to be taken to the ambulances.
The Nepali Army built the helipad after four years with the financial support of the local level. The local level had spent one lakh and sometimes even more than that. The expenditure incurred by the local level for the construction of the helipad has been wasted.
Bagchaur Municipality 2 Ward Chairman Dipesh DC said that despite the construction of a helipad in remote areas for the immediate rescue of seriously ill patients with the financial support of the local level and the technical support of the Nepali Army, it could not be used as the roads reached all the places in the district and the vehicles started reaching the villages. He informed that a helipad was built in 2077 at the View Tower complex located in Baghaur Municipality 2 Agla Takura. "It was not known how much was spent on the construction of the helipad," he said.
He says that even after four years of construction of the helipad, not a single helicopter has landed yet. Yagya Bahadur Basnet, head of the health branch of the municipality, said that although the Nepali Army has built a helipad in Maulekhali on the border of Ward No. 2 and 3 of Darma rural municipality with the financial support of the municipality, it has not been used yet because there are no patients who need to be taken to the helicopter.
'The Nepali Army did a very good job by constructing a helipad for immediate rescue so that no local in the district would die prematurely due to lack of treatment. In recent times, there are no patients who need to be immediately rescued and taken for treatment. Some cannot board the helicopter due to serious illness. So everyone who is sick goes to the ambulance. So it might not be used,' he said. He says that the helipad built
is still the same as it was before. Chhatreshwari Rural Municipality Engineer Rajaram Rizal said that although the Nepali Army has constructed a helipad in ward no. He informed that because the highway is near, most of the patients go for treatment in their cars.
'After an emergency, the family panics. They try to get to the hospital as soon as possible. They don't think that everyone should be taken by helicopter and immediately look for a car. That's why it may not have been used," he said.
Ganapati Krishna Thakulla of Siddhibox Gana Simkhark Salyan said that although a helipad was built with the financial and technical support of the local level for the immediate rescue of seriously ill patients, there have not been many incidents requiring immediate rescue since 2077 and the seriously injured in accidents are being taken to the hospital by their relatives.
He informed that it seems that the district residents are using vehicles because of the financial burden for immediate rescue.
