In Salyan, an old man died due to burns while extinguishing the fire in Kharbari. 65-year-old Prem Bahadur Basnet, a resident of Timilechaur, Triveni rural municipality-3 of the district, died.
Police Inspector Baburam Basnet, information officer of District Police Office Salyan, said that Basnet, who was burnt while fighting a fire that broke out in a field near his house, died on the spot around 3 o'clock on Friday afternoon.
Prani Basnet informed that the police team from the area police office, Luham, has arrived at the scene and is investigating and preparations are being made to bring the body to the district hospital for post-mortem.
Ward president Karnadeb Dangi said that Basnet and his wife went to cut grass in the kharbari near their house and got burnt when the kharbari caught fire.
The house of Deviram Bohra of Kapurkot Rural Municipality-6 Ratamata of the district has been burnt down due to a similar power short. Prani Basnet said that there was a loss of 400,000 including 52,000 cash in the incident. Basnet, Information Officer of District Police Office Salyan, said that food, clothes and cash worth 6 lakhs were lost due to fire in two houses.
