Ward No. 1 of Guthichour Rural Municipality of the district has started providing free gas stoves to every house of poor Dalit families in their ward. One house, one gas stove distribution program has been started to protect forests and protect from smoke.

In the first phase, 50 poor Dalit families of Ward No. 1, Dillikot have been detailed. Shanti Malla Bhandari, the vice-president of the rural municipality, reached Dillikot village and distributed gas and stoves. 

Ward President Arjun Mahtara said that gas stoves were distributed to protect the environment and save forests. According to him, the locals do not have to collect firewood after gas reaches their homes. Local Lalkosha Kami said that even if it is for a few days, they will be freed from the situation of having to cook food in firewood smoke for years. 

At present, only the Dalit community lives in the village where the stoves are distributed. Ward President Mahtara said that gas stoves were distributed as part of a program aimed at Dalits. 

Dalit families whose economic conditions are weak have been given gas cylinders and stoves. The ward office believes that the consumption of firewood will decrease and deforestation will stop. 

According to him, gas stoves worth 5 lakh rupees have been distributed. Chandra Sarki, a local, said that he was happy to get the gas stove for free. He said, "When gas stoves are now available everywhere, the ward government has also given them to us. Now we always use gas.'
