The sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages has been banned in the fair held at the Chhatreshwari Temple and Conch Park of Chhatreshwari Rural Municipality.

The local police office Luham, Temple Protection Committee and Chhatreshwari Rural Municipality held a meeting on Monday keeping in mind the security point of view and banned the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages.

If someone is found to be drinking or selling alcohol, the police will take action according to the law.

On the pretext of pleasing Lord Shiva, the consumption and sale of intoxicants (bhang, ganja, ghotta) in the name of Prasad on Shivratri will be consumed and sold, said Bishwapremi Dahal, president of Chhatreswari Satidevi Area Development Committee.

On the occasion of Shivratri, because those who consume bhang, ganja, ghotta disturb the peace and security, consumption and sale of intoxicants have been banned, said the head of the area police office, Luham, Birendraraj Gurung. He informed that more than 100 security personnel will be mobilized for the implementation of the decision.

Chairman of Chhatreshwari Rural Municipality, Oz Bahadur Budhathoki, said that arrangements have been made to accommodate the pilgrims who came to the temple for darshan and worship. According to him, an entrance has been made from Sharda river bridge and Ghopteamrai and arrangements have been made to return via Lantibazar road.
