6 people were injured while extinguishing the fire in Deurali Community Forest located in Bagchaur Municipality-2. While extinguishing the fire in the steep area, some were burnt by the flames and some fell and were injured.
Ramesh Nepali, President of Community Forest, said that Mohan Gharti of Ghartigaon, Deb Bahadur Bohra, Dorna Gharti of Lamadanda, Ashish Nepali and two others were injured. He informed that local Deb Bahadur Bohra, the manager of Ganga Rosin Company, was burnt in the hands of the fire while trying to put out the fire in the forest and others fell and were injured while running in the steep area.
According to him, the condition of all the injured is normal and the health condition is normal after treatment. He said that the fire that broke out in the community forest since Wednesday was brought under control after about 35 hours.
Due to the fire in Deurali community forest, 80 hectares of forest area was damaged and more than 3000 Salla, Tuni, Uttis trees were burnt down, but dozens of high-risk houses were saved with the help of locals and security personnel, said Tek Bahadur Rawal, head of Division Forest Office Salyan. Although the fire was brought under control after 35 hours, he has requested everyone concerned to exercise high vigilance as the risk is still the same.
