The district administration office has sealed the shops selling petroleum products in open spaces in and around the district headquarters, Khalanga Bazar. Four shops were sealed during joint monitoring by District Administration Office and Industry and Consumer Protection Office.
Assistant Chief District Officer Vinod Regmi informed that shops in Musikot Municipality-5, Samriddhi Oil Suppliers in Musikot-1, Dabhai Motor Parts and Mount Everest Oil Suppliers in Patukhola were sealed.
'Despite requests not to sell petroleum products openly, after being sealed, the shop has been sealed today after monitoring,' he said, 'up to 800 liters of petroleum products were found stored in one shop. Quality was also found in purity. Complaints were heard that they were charging a little more than the specified price. We have locked such shops that have not completed the procedure.
The administration said that they were selling oil without official permission from Nepal Oil Corporation, buying oil from petrol pumps and selling it to consumers at different prices, and even not keeping bills. The administration also said that the closed shops have been given three days to take legal action.
