The dilapidated and cramped jail building of the district has five times more prisoners than its capacity. Sources of the prison said that since the concerned authorities did not construct a new building, they were forced to keep more prisoners than the capacity in the dilapidated and narrow building of the prison.
V.No. In 1910, the dilapidated building built as a tabela by the then Raja-Rajuta was torn down and brought into use to keep prisoners. There are only four rooms in this prison building. Although the prison has the capacity to hold 20 men and 5 women, currently there are 121 men, 16 women and 3 minors.
Bhim Bahadur Gharti, Jailer of the prison said that while only 7/8 people can be kept in one room of the dilapidated and narrow prison building, now it is forced to keep 30 to 35 people. Prison guard Parashuram Khatri said that due to dilapidated and narrow buildings, prisoners are facing various problems. He informed that when he sleeps on the balcony, he gets sick from cold in winter and heat in summer.
