Paddy production has increased this year in Salyan. Compared to last year, the rice production has increased by 319 metric tons this year.

According to Agricultural Development Office Salyan, last year 080/081, 28 thousand 559 metric tons were produced in 6 thousand 29 hectares, this year 28 thousand 878 metric tons were produced in 6 thousand hectares. 

The agricultural development office information officer Ishwari Narayan Gharti said that although the area under paddy production in the district has decreased due to seasonal rains, ease of irrigation and hybrid seeds, the production has increased. He informed that the area of ​​paddy cultivation this year has decreased by 29 hectares compared to last year.  

According to him, in 2079/080, the farmers of the district cultivated paddy in 7 thousand 66 hectares. In which 30 thousand 506 metric tons were produced. He said, 'The number of farmers is decreasing because the young generation has migrated abroad. Due to the fact that houses are being built in the fields, the area has decreased.' 

This year in Chhatreshwari, the rice planted by the farmers has been affected by the disease, but the production has not decreased, said Ganesh Bhandari, a technician. He informed that rice is cultivated in Sanghar and Darimjeula around Sharda river in Chhatreshwari rural municipality. 

District Sarada  Around the river, fields around the river such as Resamjyula of Chhatreshwari Rural Municipality, Luhamkhola of Triveni, Marmakhola of Kumakh Rural Municipality, Samrajhyyula of Vangad Kupinde Municipality, Vangad Khola, Babai River of Kalimati Rural Municipality, and not only around the Sharda River of Sharda Municipality, but also in the areas around Bashkhola, are producing rice. About 40 percent of the total population is self-sufficient from rice production in the district.
