49-year-old Krishna Bahadur Khatri of Kalimati Rural Municipality-6 has been forced to walk with bomb fragments on his body for two decades. During the then Maoist People's War that started in 2052, he was hit by bomb shrapnel during clashes with the Nepali Army at various locations. On 25th Chait 2061, he was hit by 54 bomb shrapnel in various parts of his body, including his head, legs, and hands, in the clash in Khara of Rukum, before that in Kusum and Myagdi of Banke. "I managed to remove 22 shrapnel by selling my wife's jewelry, borrowing it," he said Khatri, who is also a company commander, said that initially when he was injured, he was given normal treatment and deployed in battle. After establishing peace in the country, they ignored it. He said, "I went to Surkhet for a health check-up after I got sick last time. On examination, symptoms of cancer were found. The doctor has advised to go to Chitwan, but due to lack of funds, he has not been able to go yet. He said that even though the government gives living allowance to the seriously injured people of the people's war, it is not enough, so it is difficult to meet household expenses.
