The Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Yamlal Kandel, has suggested that the development partner organizations should be citizen-friendly while determining the priority of assistance.
In a meeting with Kyoko Yokosuda, the National Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Nepal on Wednesday, he said that a large amount of assistance is being received from donor agencies, but the expected results have not been achieved with such assistance, and he suggested that the priority of assistance should be citizen-friendly.
"You have helped a lot in Karnali, we need such help continuously," he said, "Our interest is that the citizens should adopt your help as much as possible."
Stating that complaints have come from the public that some development partner organizations prioritize programs at the center rather than the basic needs of the lower level, Chief Minister Kandel told Resident Representative Yokosuda that there is a need to prioritize programs by coordinating with the people's representative bodies.
Chief Minister Kandel, due to illiteracy and lack of awareness, in the past, priority was given to development partner organizations in rights-oriented programs, but now he asked to increase support for infrastructure development. Discussing that most of the areas of Karnali are negative in the development index, he said that rather than many programs, he should work in a few areas but work in such a way as to produce results.
"Programs of development partner organizations are seen everywhere, but without exception, the people do not praise them," he said. This should not happen now.'
Chief Minister Kandel also said that the provincial government is always ready to create a suitable working environment for charity organizations. He emphasized that the partner organizations should also coordinate before selecting the program. In the
discussion, resident representative Yokosuda said that she had visited Karnali for the first time and that the issues raised here would be resolved through discussion.
