The health workers working at the Darma rural village health post in Salyan have been providing health services from the buildings and tents damaged by the earthquake for a year. The health post was damaged in the Friday night earthquake on November 17 last year, centered on Ramidanda in Jajarkot. However, due to the neglect of the relevant agencies in the repair and reconstruction, the health workers have been forced to provide services at risk.

Deepak Chand, in-charge of Dhakadam Health Chowki, informed that although the building is unsafe and services cannot be provided from there, the relevant authorities have not shown any interest in repairing and rebuilding it. A two-storey building was damaged by the earthquake. We served from the open square for two months. There was a problem of cold and rain also in the open square. "We have been using a cracked building since the municipality said it would make arrangements," he said.

Chand said that there were cracks from outside and inside the building. Even the municipality has not been able to arrange the building. As the patients who came could not be sent immediately, they had to provide services in fear. He said that despite submitting a demand letter to the concerned body for the reconstruction of the building, there was no hearing.

Yagya Bahadur Budhathoki, in-charge of Vulchaur health post and health worker, said that there was no option even though he was advised not to stay in the cracked building during the monitoring. At first, I was afraid to enter the damaged building. It seemed that he would not die by being buried in it. Now I'm used to it," he said.

After the earthquake made the building uninhabitable, Community Health Unit Center Dhakadam has been providing services from a tent for a year. Yagya Bahadur Khadka, a health worker at the center, said that medicines, patient tests, and other materials had to be kept in the narrow tent. The storms that came last May and May caused holes in the tent. During the rainy season, it was difficult to provide services due to waterlogging. No more than 3/4 people can stay inside the tent. There is a tent on a steep land, no matter what, they have to serve under compulsion," said Khadka.

The earthquake has damaged 8 health institutions in Darma Rural Municipality. Ward No. 1 Dharmakot, Ward No. 5 Dhakadam, Valchaur health institutions have been damaged the most. Yagya Bahadur Basnet, head of the health department of the municipality, said that due to lack of sufficient budget, the building could not be repaired and reconstructed.

He said that since new buildings have been built in Dharmakot, there is no problem in providing services, but it is difficult to provide services to the health workers of Dhakadam and Valchaur health institutions. This year, he informed that a budget of 2 crores has been allocated to construct a building at Darmakot health post and community health unit center in Dhakadam.
