It has been exactly one year since the earthquake that hit Ramidanda in Jajarkot. Even after a year of earthquake damage, the earthquake victims of Salyan have not yet been able to get the relief of building a temporary roof.

Although the concerned municipality has submitted the documents to the concerned body with the details of the damage, the earthquake victims have not yet been able to get relief for the construction of a temporary roof.

Last year on the night of October 17th, due to the earthquake that hit Ramidanda in Jajarkot, more than 4,600 houses were damaged not only in Jajarkot, Rukum, but also in Salyan's Darma, Kumakh Rural Municipality, Bagchaur Municipality and Triveni Rural Municipality. Out of 4,080 houses damaged, 1,680 in Darma rural municipality, 129 out of 167 in Kumakh and 154 out of 380 in Bagchaur Municipality have received 25,000 for the first installment. Others have not received both the first and second installments .

The victims have been facing various kinds of problems since the government could not provide relief amount of 50,000 for building a temporary terrace and complete construction of the house. Due to the inability to get funds for relief and reconstruction, 1,000 of the 4,600 earthquake victims in Darma, Kumakh Rural Municipality and Bagchaur Municipality of the district are still forced to live in the terrace and the rest are forced to repair the damaged houses.

Vimala Damai of Darma Rural Municipality-5 Kot, who has been living in a temporary roof after taking a loan of 50,000 from the government after her two-storey house was destroyed by the earthquake, said that now she is desperate to pay the loan as she has no means of earning income. She informed that she has given up hope of getting 50,000 from the government to make a temporary roof. He says that he is suffering from various health problems due to living in a temporary shelter.

55-year-old Padam Bahadur Khatri of Darma-5 Uttiseni said that he has lost his love for relief as the chances of getting relief money from the government are low. He informed that the government has only applied ointment to the victims' wounds in the name of immediate relief. He says that he is living in the house that was damaged by the earthquake because he could not get the relief money to build a temporary roof from the government.

Bahadur Damai of Lirapaja said that compared to Jajarkot and Rukum, they did not care much about the earthquake victims of Salyan and despite the loss of lakhs of houses, they only gave Tripal in the name of relief and house reconstruction. ``Only after demolishing the house damaged by the earthquake and building a tower, in order to get relief money and budget for house reconstruction, the house was demolished and a temporary tower was built . Since there is no relief from the government, now it is like a house,'' he said.

The Chief Administrative Officer of Darma Rural Municipality, Resham Bahadur Wali, said that although all the documents have been prepared and submitted to the relevant agencies, due to various complications, all the earthquake victims of the municipality have not received the relief money for temporary towers.

Out of 4,800 victims of different wards of the municipality, only 1,680 people received 25,000 for the first installment and others did not. He said that the government has allocated only 30 million for Dharma to build houses and structures damaged by the earthquake and that the money will be used to build a school and a health building.

Hari Bahadur Kathayat, Acting Chief Administrative Officer of Bagchaur Municipality, said that out of 380 damaged houses, only 157 have received the relief amount for the first installment and no one else has received it. He informed that since there is no possibility of getting relief, many people are living after repairing the damaged houses.

Chief District Officer Shambhu Prasad Regmi, who is the chairman of the District Disaster Management Committee, said that the first installment of 54 million 25 thousand has been disbursed for the 1 thousand 917 earthquake victims in the district and due to the delay in the paperwork process, all the earthquake victims have received the money for temporary shelters. He said he couldn't get it.
