Himalayan district Mugu has been declared as the 65th literate district on Monday. 4 local levels of 1 municipality and 3 rural villages of the district were already declared literate. Among the 5 districts of former Karnali, Mugu has been declared the first literate district.
Education Development and Coordination Unit Mugu has informed that the district has been declared literate after all the indicators set to be literate have been fulfilled.
According to the census of 2078, the population of Mugu is 64 thousand 549. In which it is said that 95 percent of citizens in Mugu are literate . After completing 12 indicators such as being able to sign, being able to read and write, being able to use mobile phones and calculators, and being able to express their feelings, the municipality and district Acting Head of Education Development and Coordination Unit Khadkaraj Viyal said that the district has been declared literate according to the policy of declaring literate. He said that since the literacy index of the district is more than 50 percent, it was successful in declaring the district as a literate district.
