The Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Yamlal Kandel, has said that Karnali, which is a geographically large and backward province, should be increased in a fair manner while distributing the revenue of the Union Government.
In the state-level program on strengthening federalism held in Birendranagar on Friday, Chief Minister Kandel said that the union government should be more liberal in the matter of financial federalism as the implementation of federalism is an important aspect. "After federalism, the expectations and needs of the citizens have increased in the province," he said, "The income situation is low, in such a situation, the programs and grants given by the federal government must be increased."
Chief Minister Kadel says that the expectations and needs of the people are increasing but due to lack of resources, the needs of the people could not be met. Indicating that questions are being raised about the federal structure in various ways, Chief Minister Kandel said that even though there are some shortcomings, now is not the time to reconsider the issue of federalism. According to him, among the three important aspects of federalism, the top leadership of major parties needs to pay special attention to political, administrative and financial federalism.
Recalling that the constitution with federalism was issued due to the unity between the major parties, Chief Minister Kadel said that it is necessary for everyone to be united in the implementation of federalism. Chief Minister Kandel expressed his concern that the power-centered discussion did not reach the right place on all issues, saying that issue-focused discussion is necessary in the implementation of federalism.
