The Health Insurance Board has urged health institutions not to engage in any kind of discriminatory behavior towards the insured. The board has issued a press release stating that serious attention has been drawn to the irregularities seen in the course of service delivery and has warned against acting against the rules. The board has stated that some service-providing health institutions have received complaints that they are forcing insured service recipients to take service time to receive health insurance services, behaving in a discriminatory manner, and not providing necessary services and medicines. The board has also drawn attention to the fact that such activities are against the Health Insurance Act, 2074 BS and the Health Insurance Regulations, 2075 BS and prevailing laws. The board has instructed health institutions not to engage in discriminatory behavior and to fully comply with prevailing laws, regulations and procedures. It has also warned that if any institution is found to have violated the rules during monitoring, action will be taken according to the law.
The Health Insurance Board has stated that it has taken this step to make service delivery effective, equitable and of high quality.
