The Ministry of Health and Population is set to administer the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine against cervical cancer to teenage girls nationwide from Sunday.

Dr. Abhiyan Gautam, head of the Child Health and Vaccination Branch of the Department of Health Services, said that girls studying in grade 6 and out-of-school girls aged 10 years across the country will be vaccinated by Falgun 15. He said that the government will vaccinate girls currently studying in grades 7 to 10 and out-of-school girls aged 11 to 14 years who were missed in last year's HPV vaccination campaign under the same campaign. The girls and girls will be vaccinated in their respective schools and health institutions and that health workers who administer the vaccine have been trained, said Dr. Gautam.

'The vaccine has been delivered from the regional office to the district office,' he said. The government had vaccinated about 1.7 million girls in grades 6 to 10 and out-of-school girls aged 10 to 14 years across the country from Magh 22 to Falgun 6 last year.

Head of the Branch Dr. Gautam said that about 350,000 children will be vaccinated against cervical cancer under the vaccination campaign. He informed that support has been received from the Global Alliance for the vaccination.
