Thirteen retired health volunteers were bid farewell and honored on the occasion of the 14th Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Women Community Health Volunteers Day.

In a program organized by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Health Department on Friday, volunteers who have retired from compulsory service have been given Rs 200,000 each along with honors. Similarly, two people have also been honored posthumously. In addition, excellent volunteers from all 32 wards have been honored with Rs 5,000 each. Currently, 453 health volunteers are working in KMC.

On the occasion, Deputy Mayor of the metropolis, Sunita Dangol, said that they are gradually working on increasing the services and facilities of health volunteers. She expressed her commitment to soon include them in health insurance, appreciating the incomparable contribution made by health volunteers in improving the health system of Nepal. 

Central President of the Nepal Health Workers Association, Geeta Thing, emphasized that the services and facilities of health volunteers should be increased in line with time.
