Recently, the number of patients has increased in the eye hospital run by Netrajyoti Sangh located in Mahendranagar. Due to the excellent affordable services, Indian eye patients are also attracted to get treatment here. The hospital has provided eye treatment services to 24 thousand 780 people in the financial year 2081/82.

According to Birsingh Dhami, eye officer of the hospital, 634 people with cataracts were operated on during that period, and spectacles were distributed to 5,413 people.

'We have improved the quality of the eye treatment services,' he said, 'The service is also cheaper compared to other places, there is no discrimination between natives and foreigners, everyone is being treated equally with the same fee.' According to him, this is the reason why the number of patients in the hospital is increasing. There are 1,667 Indian citizens who have received services at the hospital. According to ophthalmologist Dhami, the increase in the number of Indian patients is due to the hospital's quality, non-discriminatory service and no additional fees.

'Cataracts, eyeballs, vision problems, spectacles, eyelashes, etc. are being operated in the hospital through machines,' he said, 'Cataracts, patients with complex nature who need retina transplants are being 'referred' to Geta Eye Hospital for surgery.' According to him, currently 115 to 120 patients are coming to the hospital daily for eye treatment.

He says that he has been saving the money from the fees collected from the patients and spending it on running the hospital. In the financial year 2081/82, additional services were provided by conducting eye camps in schools and remote areas. 1 thousand 900 students were served through six camps at the school level, while 3 thousand 900 people received services from the camps organized at the local level. The hospital was established in 2042 as an eye treatment center. After the

, it was upgraded as a 10-bed eye hospital in 2070. Ophthalmologist Dhami said that when it became difficult to perform surgery in the building where the hospital is being operated, they requested the municipality and the provincial government for the construction of the building, but the budget has not been finalized yet.

Mentioning that the infection of viral eye disease has increased due to air pollution, he advises the general public to keep their eyes clean with clean water daily, to use caps and dark glasses when going outside the house. Nepal Netrajyoti Sangh, established in 2035, is the leading non-governmental organization in Nepal. It has been providing affordable and quality eye treatment services.

Through 28 eye hospitals, 224 eye treatment centers and 45 district branches, the association has been serving more than 300,000 people annually, and has been performing more than 300,000 eye surgeries.
