Dengue infection has been confirmed in 3 thousand 889 people in the district in the last financial year. According to the Public Health Office, 3,020 people including 1,548 men and 1,472 women were infected with dengue in Chitwan district.

Last year, the most infected people were seen in Bharatpur Metropolitan City, where 1,171 people were infected. After that, nine hundred and seven people have been infected in Ratnanagar Municipality, four hundred and sixty-seven in Ichchakamana Rural Municipality, two hundred and twenty-three in Khairhani Municipality, one hundred and twenty-four in Rapti Municipality, 91 in Kalika Municipality and 37 in Madi Municipality.

It was confirmed that one person died last year due to dengue. Last year, 17 thousand 353 people's blood was tested in the district. Ram KC, Inspector of Vector Control of the Public Health Office, said that although the infection rate is high, the death rate is low.

According to him, 1,831 people were infected with dengue in the previous year, which was confirmed by testing 23,840 people. In the year 2074/75, one thousand 291 tests and 59 infected,  In 2075/76 one thousand 951 tests 31 infected, in 2076/77  19 thousand 230 tests, 4 thousand 803 infected, 1 thousand 717 tests 243 infected in 2077/78, 14 thousand 978 tests in 2078/79, 3 thousand 336 infected, 5 thousand 454 tests in 2079/80, 303 infected.

Dengue risk is higher in the main market area of the district. High precautions have been taken to prevent the spread of infection. Vector control inspector KC informed that the office has taken measures to control dengue by interacting and discussing with health workers and public representatives of all seven municipalities. He said that everyone has been warned to be vigilant this season due to the seasonal increase in the number of mosquitos that spread dengue.

Dengue fever was first seen in Nepal in 2004 in Chitwan. The disease was confirmed in a Japanese tourist who came here that year. Then in 2006, dengue patients were also found in some districts of Terai and Inner Madhes. In 2009, nine people were infected in Chitwan. In 2010, when three thousand 298 people were tested, 739 people were confirmed to be infected with dengue, according to the statistics of the office. 

Vector Control According to KC, dengue fever can last for five to seven days. When this disease occurs, symptoms such as eyeballs and headaches, body aches, joint, bone and muscle pains, body rashes and bleeding, and high fever appear.

Symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, bleeding from the nose or gums, and bleeding will appear, he said. He informed that because dengue fever is caused by a virus, it does not have much treatment.  

The main way to prevent dengue fever is to avoid mosquito bites, according to the Public Health Office. KC of Vector Control said that they do not allow water to freeze in empty bales, empty drums of kerosene or kerosene, old tires etc. thrown around the place where they live.
