Madhyabindu Hospital now expanded to one hundred beds

The 15-bed Madhyabindu District Hospital at Danda in Kawasoti has been upgraded to a 100-bed provincial hospital. The meeting of Gandaki State Government on 12th of May has decided to expand Madhyabindu District Hospital to 100 beds and resume service.

The hospital has started serving as a provincial hospital from the newly constructed building. The head of the hospital Dr. According to Ramesh Acharya, the state government has approved the appointment of 22 expert doctors and 15 medical officers required for the operation of a 100-bed hospital in the first phase.

Other non-technical manpower will be retained by the hospital management for the time being. At least 250 health workers are needed to operate this hospital at full capacity. Even the dialysis service, which has been operating here since two years ago, is currently operating only in two shifts due to lack of skilled health personnel and equipment.

There is a problem of mosquito-borne diseases due to the lack of drains for the dialysis service that helps in the treatment of kidney patients. Acharya expressed his pain. 'This hospital has the highest number of mosquito habitats in the district,' Acharya said. This problem is increasing due to the lack of sewage disposal system.'

This is the biggest hospital in East Nawalparasi. Madhyabindu Memorial Hospital, which was started 14 years ago with the help of local donors, has been upgraded to a provincial hospital with a capacity of 100 beds through the district hospital.

Around 500 patients come here daily. Acharya said that operations and other work could not be started due to lack of reliable electricity service in the hospital. Talking to the head of the electricity authority Kawasoti, Chief Medical Superintendent Acharya said that even though he had written to the electricity office thousands of times to fix the power line in the hospital, there was no response.

Acharya informed that a generator of at least 500 KV is needed for hospital operation and because of the inability to arrange it, operation services could not be started even though there were sufficient manpower.

The hospital has been moved to a newly constructed building with the help of Germany's Hilfe Nepal. Balkrishna Ghimire, the chairman of the board of directors, said that the goal of expanding the trauma unit services in the hospital has been taken soon.

There are more than 4 dozen hospitals in the eastern Nawalparasi from government and private sectors. ICU services and major surgery services are not available in any of these hospitals due to lack of specialist doctors and other equipment. Chitwan is also sent here for general surgery. In the district, there is no need for intensive treatment, MRI, CT scan and reliable lab.

Private investment hospitals in East Nawalparasi have not been able to provide expert and reliable medical services.

In the form of East Nawalparasi, the government has started construction of a trauma center at a cost of 25 crores. The contract for the trauma center, which is supposed to start construction on 3 hectares of land, was issued last month and the contract was signed. According to the Urban Development and Building Development Department, the construction work will be completed within the next 2 years. In East Nawalparasi, which has a population of about 400,000, there is no operation even for those who have complicated birth defects. Adequate skilled manpower  And due to the lack of equipment, the operation could not be done.
