National Independent Party MP Toshima Karki has accused Health and Population Minister Pradeep Poudel of stalling the health insurance program.
He made such allegations while speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday. She accused Minister Paudel of sharing an ambitious dream that he would increase the limit of health insurance to five lakhs, and now he has backed away by showing lack of budget.
She said, 'I was surprised to hear the helplessness of the Minister of Health, who shared his ambitious dream of increasing the limit of health insurance to five lakhs, that the payment could not be made, the budget was not enough, and the health insurance was about to be closed.'
She suggested to Minister Poudel to make the health insurance program compulsory from the family and the ministry, saying that she wanted to take action while the program was running. She said, 'It is not a good habit to try to get health insurance even when it is working and to discourage it for years by putting it on hold when it is not working. If there are not enough advisors for this, please pave the way. We are ready to advise. Let's start health insurance from the minister's family and the ministry.'
She emphasized that the health insurance program should be re-run.
