Seven hundred and thirty-three people have benefited from the cancer treatment assistance program of the Gandaki state government. The state government has provided them with 2 crore 35 lakh 89 thousand.
According to the Minister of Health Krishna Prasad Pathak, the state government has given permission to Bir Hospital in Kathmandu, Patan Institute of Health Sciences, Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital, Civil Servant Hospital and BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Center in Chitwan. Cancer treatment support program has been expanded by making an agreement with the hospital.
In coordination with Nepal Red Cross, blood has been provided free of charge and laboratory tests for people under 10 years of age and over 60 years of age have also been done for free. Thus, 22 types of non-communicable and mental diseases, 11 for newborns and children, 45 for basic and emergency treatment and 23 for Ayurveda have been distributed free of charge from the Provincial Health Supply Management Center.
Women with prolapsed uterus are also treated free of cost in hospitals under the provincial government. Dialysis services are also provided free of cost to kidney patients. Eight hundred and four patients are receiving this service from 15 public and private health institutions.
The Ministry of Health has also started a 'screening' program for non-communicable diseases at the community level. Health Minister Pathak said that 'screening' has been started for the diagnosis of non-communicable diseases such as blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and cancer in collaboration with the local level.
