The Drug Administration Department has issued a notice warning against the sale of banned drugs. Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel later issued a public notice to tighten the monitoring and action process to prevent irregularities in the sale and distribution of medicines.

In the public notice issued by the department on January 25th, it has warned to stop this as there have been complaints that drugs with mixed pharmaceutical composition, nutraceuticals and cosmetics mixed with drugs are being sold in the name of doctors' supplies which are not registered with the department.

During the inspection, it was found that when unregistered and banned medicines were prescribed in the medical supplies, there was an adverse effect on the health of the citizens. The department has warned that action will be taken in accordance with the Confiscation and Medicines Act 2035 if it is found that disobeying the notification and selling and distributing it will continue to be monitored regularly.

Department has repeatedly issued notices saying that it has received an order from the court against selling banned vitamin and mineral mixed products in the past, but it has repeated the warning that those who violate the law will be punished.

Spokesman Prakash Budhathoki said that the ministry has also received complaints that some doctors are prescribing more than the required amount of vitamin and mineral complex medicine. Director General Narayan Dhakal said that since it is illegal to prescribe such medicines without both registration and permission, action will be taken against those who sell and recommend them.
