Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel has said that VAT and customs duty will not be levied on spectacles related to eye treatment from next year.
He said this while inaugurating the Central Assembly of Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh in Kathmandu on Friday.
He mentioned that glasses will be connected with fashion and eye treatment in two ways and announced that the treatment-related glasses will be free of VAT and customs from next year.
He said that there is a system for providing assistance from outside and customs exemption for purchased materials in the therapeutic context. He said that everyone should work together in terms of adding eye treatment equipment and organizing physical infrastructure.
He said, 'Providing equipment and organizing infrastructure is also an important issue. In terms of providing equipment, let us work together to provide equipment to the health institutions and treatment institutions operated by them. Let us try to add and organize the equipment. Let us move forward in order to organize infrastructure development as well.'
Minister Paudel said that instead of big and big buildings, we should move forward by building small and organized infrastructure. He further said, 'You talked about glasses. Glasses are of two types. One is also connected with fashion. The other is connected to the eye. Next year, we will make an arrangement that VAT and customs will not be charged on glasses connected to eye treatment rooms. In other therapeutic contexts, whatever goods we buy from outside, we also bring them through cooperation. There is a system to exempt customs at such borders.
Minister Paudel said that the government is ready to improve the policy area for eye treatment. He said that the government is trying to make it effective from the policy side for eye treatment.
