The Ministry of Health and Population has stated that the 'Human Metapneumo Virus' (HMPV) that was found in China is a common virus. The Ministry has issued a statement on Wednesday, stating that it has drawn attention to the misleading propaganda made in various media and social networks, and requested not to follow such rumours.

"It is considered natural that the rate of respiratory infection increases in the winter months. The human metapneumo virus is not a new virus, which is a virus that causes the common cold that has been seen in Nepal in the past, and Nepal has the necessary capacity and preparation for its testing, monitoring and response," the statement said.&nbsp ;

The ministry also informed that the risk of serious problems from this virus is low and its infection is likely to occur only in people with weak immune system, small children and elderly people. However  According to the ministry, surveillance and vigilance has been increased by the ministry, health services department, epidemiology and disease control division, hospitals and laboratories.

The Ministry has requested everyone to adopt personal safety measures (wearing a mask, not going to crowded places) as it is appropriate to follow public health standards for infectious diseases such as HMPV and Ampx.

Similarly, the Ministry has also requested not to go near/contact the patient, wash hands with soap and water and if there is a health problem, go to the hospital and seek proper advice from the doctor and contact the Ministry's Hello Health Call Center 1115 for consultation.
