Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel has inspected Tribhuvan International Airport on the precautions taken to deal with monkeypox risk in Nepal. He discussed with the officials at the airport and asked them to provide effective services so as not to spread the risk.
The ministry has been providing monitoring and awareness information through the health desk for travelers coming home through the airport to prevent the spread of monkeypox.
Currently, two citizens who came from Saudi Arabia have been infected and have returned home after treatment. Another one is being treated in a communicable disease control hospital in a safe condition .
He said that the Public Health Laboratory for sample testing, the Communicable Disease Control Hospital for treatment and the Epidemiology Disease Control Division are working together to spread awareness.
He also promised to work through the Nepali Embassy to create awareness among the Nepali community as infected patients are coming from Saudi Arabia.
World Health Organization's Nepal Representative Rajesh Sambhajirao Pandav said that the vigilance adopted by the Ministry of Health and Population for Mpox control is commendable and ready for necessary support.
